Eight-Year-Old Girl Dies In Kerala As Mobile Phone Explodes

An eight-year-old girl died in Kerala's Thiruvilvamala after her mobile phone exploded.

An eight-year-old girl from Kerala's Thiruvilvamala died after her mobile phone exploded. The victim, Adithyasree's phone exploded at around 10:30 pm on Monday as per a police official. Local police lodged a case and launched an investigation into the matter, reported news agency PTI. She was a student in the third standard at a nearby school.

The instances of mobile phones blowing up is not new. Earlier in September an infant died as the battery of a phone which was kept near her exploded. People who were aware of the incident said that the keypad phone which was purchased around six months ago already had a swollen battery plugged into a switch connected to a solar panel, reported the Times of India.

Kusum Kashyap mother of the baby, Neha, was not present in the room when the incident took place. Upon hearing a loud noise and her other daughter's cries for help, she rushed in and saw her infant lying there with burn injuries. The toddler, Nandini, was taken to a hospital where she died during the treatment, reported Times of India. Police said that it was a 'matter of negligence' by the parents.

In another similar case prior to this, a five-year-old lost his life in Jharkhand's Pakur district as the battery of the mobile phone he was playing with exploded. The incident occurred last year in April when the boy succumbed to his injuries during the treatment. As per the Times Now, the deceased was identified as Sonu Marandi. The unfortunate incident occurred when Lajar Marandi, a resident of Gaddha Tola, removed the battery from his phone and placed it in charging mode in a master charger.
