Uttar Pradesh: One killed, another critical as speeding truck hits bike

Mau (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 16 (ANI): One student was crushed to death and another wounded critically when a speeding truck rammed into their bike on Saturday morning in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district.

The injured student is said to be receiving intensive care in a local hospital.

The duo was on their way to college when the incident took place. They study in Town Inter-College of Mohammadabad.

The driver is said to be absconding.

The accident enraged the local residents, who later blocked the road for a couple of hours and also burnt the truck.

Normal traffic was restored after the protesters were pacified by the area police.

The police said that the driver of the speeding truck might have lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the bike.

The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered in the Kotwali Police Station and further investigation is on. (ANI)
