PM Modi's flight movement might be affected due to Typhoon Mawar

New Delhi [India], Sept 3 (ANI): In the wake of Typhoon Mawar, expected to hit Hong Kong on Sunday, the flagship carrier Cathay Pacific has cancelled about 20 flights, scheduled to arrive or depart Hong Kong on Sunday and Monday.

The tropical cyclone is also said to affect Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight movement.

The cancellations of the flights is expected to disrupt the flight schedules and may restrict the VIP movement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to attend BRICS summit in China, on September 3.

"We are closely monitoring Tropical Cyclone Mawar and its potential impact to our flight operations. Currently all flight operations remain normal, but we expect disruptions to flights in and out of Hong Kong on Sunday, 3 September 2017," read Cathay Pacific's website.

Typhoon Mawar is said to be closest to Hong Kong on Sunday afternoon, according to the Hong Kong Observatory's website.

Earlier, Tropical storm Pakhar brought strong winds and heavy rain to Hong Kong and Macau, four days after one of the strongest typhoons on record, Hato, caused serious flooding and damage in the territories and killed at least 10 people. (ANI)
