Illegal constructions and unauthorised colonies: Delhi HC issues notice to civic authorities

New Delhi [India], Nov 3 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notice to all Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCDs), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and GNCT in connection with illegal constructions and unauthorised colonies.

The court has directed all the authorities to submit status report in 10 days.

The court will hear the matter next on November 15.

A PIL on October 24 was filed in the court seeking directions to the local authorities not to regularise unauthorised colonies till proper infrastructure is developed in such areas and the buildings conform to safety norms.

Asserting that there are over 1,700 illegal colonies in Delhi which have come up with the alleged active connivance of the officials of the local authorities and the Delhi government, the petition has sought an immediate stoppage of such unauthorised constructions. (ANI)
