BJP announces mayoral candidates for five UP civic bodies

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 05 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a list of mayoral candidates for the upcoming local body elections in Uttar Pradesh.

A statement issued by the governing party on Saturday read, "Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey has declared the list of mayoral candidates for five municipal corporations in the state."

The candidates are Sitaram Jaiswal from Gorakhpur, Rishikesh Upadhyay from Ayodhya, Pramila Pandey from Kanpur, Kanta Kardam from Meerut and Naveen Jain from Agra.

The civic polls, which will be held in three phases from November 22, will be a major test to gauge the public opinion on the six-month performance of the Yogi Adityanath-led government in the state. (ANI)
