Speaking at Ideas of India 3.0, IPS Manoj Sharma said that in his village he drove tempo, and when he moved to Delhi, he worked in a library and a flour mill.

Ideas of India 3.0: IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma, whose life inspired the Vikrant Massey film '12th Fail', reflected upon his struggling days and the different types of work that he did back then to earn money and survive. Manoj Sharma was present at ABP Network's Ideas of India Summit. Speaking during the summit on Saturday, Sharma spoke about his job of dog walking, working in the library, and his meeting with his wife, Shraddha Joshi.

Manoj Sharma said that in his village he drove tempo, and when he moved to Delhi, he worked in a library and a flour mill. “I did some work during my struggle with which I could have moved forward. When I came to the city from the village, in my village, I drove tempo. When I came to Delhi, I got a job in a library, where I used to get Rs 350. I benefited from working in the library; although I was a peon there, I got to read a lot of books. I read about Mahatma Gandhi, Ambedkar, and many other such people," Sharma said.

"I faced a problem while working in the library when I was told that while selling paper junk, I sold it for a higher amount and submitted a lower amount, and after that, I left the library. According to me, we all should protect our self-respect, even if we have to lose everything for it," he added.

During the event, Sharma also said, "I used to work at a flour mill, and I used to work there for hours, and I felt really powerful."

Manoj Sharma On Dog Walking Job And Wife Shraddha

Manoj Sharma said that during his struggling days he use to do the work of dog walking and get Rs 400 for each dog. Sharma further stated that  when he use to do this work back then he had a problem that Shraddha, who later got married to him, should not find out that he is doing such a job as she might think that he is of no use.

Speaking during the event, he said, "I got to know that in Delhi's Mukharjee Nagar area, where all of us go to study and prepare for exams, you can do the work of dog walking. There were many houses where children were outside or some other person was outside, dogs were tied in homes, and people don't have time for them. I felt that this was the best way that I take some dogs and walk them around for one or two hours. I started doing that and used to get Rs 400 for one dog. With this amount, you can feed and survive; I did that."

"While I was doing all this, there was a girl named Shraddha with whom I was very comfortable, and I felt that she was the kind of woman that if she enters your life, you can go very far. But my problem was that she should not get to know that I do the work of walking dogs around because I felt that if that had happened, she could have thought that this guy is of no use. But I got surprised that when she got to know about what I do, and she said I will also come along with you. I want to say that in this world if you will keep your eyes open, then you will find such beautiful and nice people that where they will stand for you in your struggles, you will not realize," Sharma further stated.
