ABP Network 'Ideas Of India' Summit: Here Are The Highlights Of Day 2

Day 2 of the two-day Ideas of ABP Network India Summit 2023 featured political leaders from India who spoke about politics, good governonce, and development.

At a time when the globe is in turmoil, afflicted by Covid-19, war and violence, economic downturns, political instability, and natural and man-made calamities, India has arisen as a ray of hope and assistance. The ABP Network has organised the second edition of the Ideas of India Summit for leaders from all areas to shed light on this and discuss how they envision a future India gracing.

Day 2 of the two-day Ideas of India Summit 2023 featured political leaders from India and abroad, such as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, AAP's Raghav Chadha, and others. It also featured eminent personalities like Infosys Founder Narayana Murthy, Author Amitav Ghosh, CEO Motion Education Pvt. Ltd Nitin Vijay, Clinical Psychologist Ashis Nandy, Ola Cabs CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, Filmmakers Mira Nair and Nandita Das, Academician Prof Mahmood Mamdani, among various others.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

In a dig at his predecessor Uddhav Thackeray, who has been crying foul after losing hold of the Shiv Sena’s reins, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the party was founded by Balasaheb Thackeray and one needs to introspect why 40-50 sitting MLAs, 13 MPs and lakhs of ‘karyakartas’ (workers) went with him during last year’s political crisis in the state. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

At the second edition of ABP Network’s flagship event ‘Ideas Of India’, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari highlighted the importance of performance audit, talked about the road construction, among other things.  Speaking at the summit on "Lay Of The Land: Highway From India To Bharat", Gadkari stated: "One thing, that I keep in mind is that financial audit is very important, but performance audit is even more important." Prof Vinay Lal

Historian and professor Dr Vinay Lal shared his views on the distinction between Hinduism and Hindutva as he spoke on the 'The Many Identities Of India -- A Plularist Vision' at ABP Network's Ideas Of India Summit. He said, "Hinduism is capacious like the banyan tree and that is exactly what the ideologues of Hindutva do not like. They want a religion which will look very much like their adversary, they want a religion that will look much more like a monotheistic religion, a religion that has one book." Read More

Academician Mahmood Mamdani

At the second edition of ABP Network’s flagship event ‘Ideas Of India’, Academician, Author, Political Commentator and Herbert Lehman Professor of Government at Columbia University Mahmood Mamdani spoke about minorities, colonialism, racial differrence among various other things. Speaking at the summit on "The Nation and its Permanent Minorities from the US to Israel', Mahmood Mamdani said, "One of the things about being a migrant is that you are never completly an insider. You are always both an outsider and an insider." Read More

Author Amitav Ghosh 

At the second edition of ABP Network’s flagship event ‘Ideas Of India’, Indian author Amitav Ghosh spoke about how climate change has resulted in demographic changes in the country as well as in the world, how colonialism triggered climate change, and why capitalism is the “greatest market failure of all time”, especially in relation to climate change. Ghosh told actor Gul Panag, who hosted him during the session on climate change, that the world is on the brink of a food crisis. Read More

Filmmakers Mira Nair And Nandita Das

Academy-award nominated filmmaker Mra Nair and actor-director Nandita Das sat down to discuss many aspects of filmmaking, their journeys at the second edition of ABP Network's Ideas of India. They spoke in the Director's Cut: Telling Original Stories session which was moderated by host Veer Sanghvi. Read More

Infosys Founder NR Narayana Murthy

NR Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys and generally considered to be the “father of India’s IT sector,” offered his take on what young entrepreneurs should do to truly cash in on India’s impetus to become a $10 trillion economy by 2035. Speaking at the ABP Network Ideas Of India summit on Saturday, Murthy said that Indian entrepreneurs today need to realise that performance and hard work is the only instrument that they have to convert their potential into success stories and attract global investors. ABP Network’s Ideas Of India Summit 2023 has come to a close now. The two-day event saw a host of eminent personalities sharing their views and ideas for a ‘Naya India’, which was the theme for this year.

In his vote of thanks, CEO Avinash Pandey said the summit will be back next year and promised it will be “even bigger and better”
