Popular television actress Rupali Ganguly recently shared a cryptic post hinting at "silencing" the "noise of humans" after issuing a defamation notice against her stepdaughter, Esha Verma.

Rupali posted a quote on her Instagram stories that read: “There are times when you need the silence of animals to recover from the noise of humans.”

This post came shortly after the 'Anupamaa' star filed a defamation notice against Esha, demanding Rs 50 crore in compensation for allegedly tarnishing her character and personal life.

According to the notice, Ganguly's lawyer, Sana Raees Khan—known for participating in 'Bigg Boss 17'—explained that the step was necessary to safeguard Rupali’s reputation due to Esha's “false and damaging statements.”

The notice, addressing Esha, stated: "Our client states that she was shocked to see the posts and comments published by you on various social media platforms including Twitter (now X), Instagram, and Facebook. Our client states that it is apposite to put the true and correct facts leading to the issuance of the present notice…”

It also mentioned that Rupali endured mental distress, requiring medical assistance, and faced on-set humiliation, losing professional opportunities as a result. Although Ganguly initially chose to maintain a “dignified silence,” she felt compelled to act legally when her and Ashwin Verma's 11-year-old son became involved.

The notice claimed Rs 50 crore in damages from Esha, along with an immediate, unconditional public apology. Failing this, Ganguly threatened further legal action.

Details in the notice revealed that Rupali and Ashwin were friends for 12 years before he separated from his second wife, Esha’s mother, in 2009. It also noted that Rupali and her now-husband had tried to assist Esha in starting a career in the entertainment industry by arranging photoshoots and audition opportunities.

The issue began when a viral Reddit post featured snippets of an old Facebook comment by Esha, where she accused Rupali of having an affair with Ashwin while he was married to her mother, describing her as "cruel-hearted."

Ashwin responded on X, denying these accusations, while Esha took to Instagram to say, “There's a darker side to this story... All I ask for is compassion as it unfolds.”
