New Delhi: Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth are going to part ways. On Friday, March 24, only a few days before their 12th wedding anniversary, the couple officially announced their split. According to recent reports, the Oscar winner and her spouse divorced in a friendly manner and are ready to remain close friends. It has also been reported that Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth want to remain co-parents of their 10-year-old son Tennessee James.

Both of them posted formal statements on their Instagram accounts announcing their divorce. The statement reads: We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.

The duo added, “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time.”

After breaking up with Jake Gyllenhaal, Witherspoon met Toth at a friend's home, as she told in a 2012 interview with ELLE. She praised him as a good person for rescuing her from a potentially awkward scenario.

The 47-year-old actress tied the knot with Jim on March 26th, 2011. Tennessee, their son, is 10 years old. Witherspoon was married to Ryan Phillippe from June 1999 to June 2008; they had two children together, a daughter named Ava, 23, and a boy named Deacon, 19.
