Woah! Shraddha Kapoor & Rajkummar Rao's 'Stree' to have a SEQUEL? Here's the truth

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Stree’, which hit the silver screens on August 31, has taken the box office by a storm. The horror comedy started on a decent note and later picked up pace on the back of strong mouth-of-the word publicity. Stree weekend box office collection stands at an impressive Rs 31.26 crore and trade pundits are expecting the film to fare quite well. As ‘Stree’ continues its good run at the theatres, speculations have become rife that the much-loved film will get a sequel. Confirming the same, while talking to a leading daily, producer Dinesh Vijan said that ‘Stree 2’ will pick up from where it left. He expressed his pleasure on audience accepting the content of the film. “The film’s last two shots actually set up the sequel. When you watch the movie, you will understand that we intentionally had an open ending. Stree 2 will start off from there and explain those shots. We have written it as a franchise, so there will be a sequel. We are happy that the confidence in the content has paid off,” Vijan told DNA. (Rajkumar Rao in a still from 'Stree') Stree’s sequel will answer several questions related to Shraddha Kapoor’s back story along with other aspects. Interestingly, the makers will retain the original star cast and also add few other actors to make the sequel a blockbuster affair. “Along with Shraddha’s backstory, a few other pertinent questions will be answered in the second instalment. The cast will be retained, but there will be new inclusions too. Predominantly, it will still be driven by Raj and Shraddha’s characters,’’ Dinesh further told the daily. (Shraddha Kapoor in a still from 'Stree') The ‘Badlapur’ producer also said that the team is expecting to on floors by the end of next year and release the film in two years. “We hope to go on floors with Stree 2 by the end of 2019. And hopefully, in two years, we will be ready with it,’’ the ‘Raabta’ director said. Talking about the film, 'Stree' also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Vijay Raaz in key roles. The film is based in a  small town where people believed that there was a beautiful woman, who left every man mesmerized with her beauty and grace, but only one man loved her truly.
