Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofan’ Release Postponed Amid Second Wave Of COVID-19

According to the latest update, Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Toofan’ will not release on Amazon Prime on May 21, 2021, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

New Delhi: The upcoming sports drama ‘Toofan’ is one of the most awaited movies of this year. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, this movie stars Farhan Akhtar in the lead role of the protagonist. The movie was slated for a release last year on October 2, 2020, but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was then announced that ‘Toofan’ will release on the OTT platform on May 21, 2021.

Now, according to the latest update, Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Toofan’ will not release on the digital platform on the mentioned date. Keeping in the mind the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the makers of ‘Toofan’ has decided to postpone the release of the movie.

Farhan Akhtar, who is also producing the film, took to his Twitter and shared an update on the release of ‘Toofan’. Farhan shared a note which read, “The situation in India is truly heart-breaking, and we at Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures send our thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the pandemic. In light of the severity of the situation, our focus is completely on the pandemic and on supporting our employees, their families and in helping the wider community. Therefore, we have taken the decision to postpone the release of our film 'Toofaan' until the situation improves. We will issue an update regarding the new release date in due course of time.”

The actor also urged everyone to observe COVID appropriate behaviour and wrote, “Please continue to observe Covid Appropriate Behaviour. Also, please register and get vaccinated when it's your turn. On behalf of the entire team of Toofaan, we urge you to Stay Home, Stay Safe and Stay United. Jai Hind.”

Meanwhile, other than Farhan Akhtar, ‘Toofan’ will also star Mrunal Thakur and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles.
