The Kerala Story Box Office Collection Day 2: Adah Sharma Starrer Scores Double Digits, Earns Over Rs 11 Crore
The Sudipto Sen-directed film 'The Kerala Story' has made major strides at the domestic box office.
New Delhi: On its second day of release, the Sudipto Sen-directed film 'The Kerala Story' has made major strides at the domestic box office. The movie has made Rs 11.22 crore, bringing its total revenue close to Rs 20 crore.
A controversy arose over the movie's trailer, which implied that 32,000 state-born girls vanished and later enlisted in ISIS. After receiving backlash, the movie's production team removed the figure and changed the description of the trailer to read, "The story of three women from Kerala."
Taran Adarsh, a film critic, shared the movie's poster with the current figures on Twitter on Sunday.
"The Kerala Story is SENSATIONAL, sets the box office on (fire emojis) on Day 2… Shows BIGG GAINS across all circuits… Hits double digits, a REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT for a film that’s *not* riding on stardom, but word of mouth… Friday ₹8.03 crore, Saturday ₹11.22 crore. Total: ₹19.25 crore. India biz (business). Box office growth/decline…Saturday: [growth] 39.73 percent," he wrote.

The Kerala High Court recently refused to stall the film's release on the grounds that the trailer does not contain any content that will offend any particular group of individuals or society as a whole. According to the court, the film has been evaluated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which determined that it is appropriate for public screening.
Adah Sharma has offered some advice to people who are still branding her most recent film, 'The Kerala Story', as "propaganda".
Adah took to Twitter and wrote, "And for the the few still calling #TheKeralaStory a propaganda film, saying these incidents do not exist even after watching testimonials of several Indian victims, my humble request, Google two words ISIS and Brides...maybe an account of white girls narrated to you might make you feel that our Indian movie is real."
