'Thappad' Box Office Collection Day 1: Taapsee Pannu's Film Starts On A Good Note

Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Thappad' minted Rs 3.07 crore on its first day at the box office.

New Delhi: Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Thappad’, which hit the silver screens on February 28, has started on a positive note at the box office. The much-awaited film received rave reviews from the critics and fans. Although, the film couldn’t rake in big moolah on its opening day, trade pundits are expecting ‘Thappad’ to pick up pace on day two and three. The movie collected Rs 3.07 crore on its first day. Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first day box office collection of ‘Thappad’ on Twitter. He mentioned that the film registered good growth in Delhi-NCR in the evening shows. “#Thappad - which started low in morning shows - gathered speed post noon onwards... Metros - especially #Delhi, #NCR - registered healthy growth towards evening and night shows... Occupancy should multiply on Day 2 and 3... Fri ₹ 3.07 cr. #India biz,” Adarsh wrote on the micro-blogging site. Taapsee Pannu thanked the audience for showering love on 'Thappad'. She tweeted, "Thank you everyone for embracing this so called ‘niche’ film which in real is a film about almost every household in India. We have been under estimating our audience for a very long time. #Thappad THANK YOU." 'Thappad' also stars Pavail Gulati, Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza and Tanvi Azmi in pivotal roles. The film, which has been directed by Anubhav Sinha, questions the unjust norms of the society when it comes to domestic violence in a relationship. Watch this space for more updates!
