Randeep Hooda Removed As CMS Ambassador Over His 'Offensive' Comments On Former UP CM Mayawati

The UN environmental treaty removed Randeep Hooda as a brand ambassador after the 'Radhe' actor faced flak for his 'offensive' comments against former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati.

Mumbai: The Secretariat of the Convention for the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals released a statement to announce that Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda will no longer serve as a CMS brand ambassador. The UN Treaty removed the ‘Sarbjit’ actor as an ambassador after an old video of him making a ‘sexist’ joke on former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati went viral on social media.

The CMS condemned Randeep’s ‘offensive’ comments against the Bahujan Samaj Party leader and said that they do not ‘reflect the values of ‘the CMS Secretariat or the United Nations.’

“The CMS Secretariat finds the comments made in the video to be offensive, and they do not reflect the values of the CMS Secretariat or the United Nations. Mr. Hooda was appointed as a CMS Ambassador for Migratory Species in February 2020 due to his support for the conservation of wildlife. The CMS Secretariat was unaware of the 2012 video at that time,” the statement read.

Last year, the ‘Kick’ actor was appointed as CMS Ambassador for Migratory Species for three years. He is facing flak on different social media platforms for making derogatory comments against Mayawati.

Several Twitter users have accused Randeep of making a ‘sexist’ and ‘casteist’ joke against the former UP CM. The hashtag ‘Arrest Randeep Hooda’ trended on the micro-blogging site after his 9-year-old from a media event re-surfaced on social media.

Twitterati asked the ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ actor to apologize for his ‘misogynistic’ remarks against Mayawati. Some users also demanded legal action against Randeep for making a joke in poor taste against the video.
