Mumbai: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has earned critical acclaim for her power-packed performance in 'Thalaivii'. The 'Queen' star, who played the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the film, received praises from all the corners. It was not a cakewalk for Kangana as she has to gain 20 kilos for her role in the biographical drama. The National Award-winning actress made waves with her massive transformation for the film. 

Kangana also had to lose weight in six months as she was supposed to start work for ‘Dhaakad’ in which she will seen in the role of a spy. The ‘Panga’ actress shared a then-and-now photo to give a glimpse of her transformation. 

Ranaut said that gaining 20 kgs and losing it within six months in her thirties ‘messed up many things’ in her body. She added that she has got permanent stretch marks because of the weight loss.  

“Gaining 20 kgs in 6 months and losing it all within 6 months that too in my thirties messed up many things in my body ….I also have permanent stretch marks as well but art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself,” the caption for her post read. 

‘Thalaivii’ OTT Release: After Netflix, Amazon Prime Video To Premiere Film Soon 

The much-awaited film, which has been directed by A.L. Vijay, hit the silver screens on September 10, 2021. ‘Thalaivii’ released at a time when cinema halls were closed in Maharashtra, a key contributor to theatrical business. Top multiplex chains had also refused to screen the film because of the two-week window-gap between the theatrical release and digital release.  

The Hindi version of biographical drama premiered on Netflix on September 25. ‘Thalaivii’ has received a good response from the audience upon its release on the streaming giant.  

Amazon Prime Video has also announced that the Tamil and Telugu version of ‘Thalaivii’ will be available for streaming on its platform from October 10, 2021.

On the professional front, the 'Fashion' star will be next seen in 'Dhaakad'. The spy thriller also stars Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta in key roles. Kangana also has 'Manikarnika Returns', 'Tejas', 'The Incarnation: Sita' in his kitty.
