John Abraham Urges PM Modi To 'Amend & Strengthen' PCA Act, Says 'Cases Of Barbaric Cruelty Against Animals On Rise'
John Abraham requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which was enacted in 1960.
Mumbai: Bollywood actor John Abraham shared a series of tweets to request Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Cabinet Minister Of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Parshottam Rupala to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act in the wake of rising cases of cruelty against animals. He tagged the BJP leaders and urged them to pass amendment to the PCA Act during the Monsoon session of Parliament.
The ‘Batla House’ actor said that heinous crimes and killing animals need to be made non-bailable to stop the torture against them.
“Cases of barbaric cruelty to animals has been on the rise. @narendramodi ji @PRupala ji, please pass amendment to PCA Act in this monsoon session of parliament. Heinous crimes of brutal torture & killing animals must be made non-bailable and carry exemplary punishment #NoMore50,” John tweeted.
Abraham also said that animals have suffered for a long time because of weak laws and the government should try to amend the PCA Act.
"PCA Act was enacted in 1960 but has not been amended ever since. Animals have suffered for far too long because of weak laws. Heinous crimes need to be made non-bailable. @narendramodi ji @PRupala ji pls amend & strengthen PCA Act in this monsoon session of parliament #NoMore50," he further wrote on the micro-blogging site.
