Happy Birthday Priyanka Chopra: The Woman Who Broke The Glass Ceiling & Became A Global Sensation

The ‘Desi Girl’ turns 38 today. This is how the ‘outsider’ made her way into Bollywood and then steadily embarked into a new journey to Hollywood making every Indian proud.

Known well for her breakthrough performances in both Bollywood and Hollywood, Priyanka Chopra was born to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Chopra on July 18, 1982, in Jamshedpur. One of India’s highest-paid actors, the ‘Mary Kom’ actress set foot on her journey when she won the ‘Miss World 2000’ pageant as a result of which she started getting offers to join Bollywood.

Though she initially set her heart on studying Aeronautical Engineering, she later made Bollywood debut with ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’ in 2003 and later went on to play the role of leading ladies in box-office hits. She received critical acclamation for her outstanding performance in the 2004 thriller film ‘Aitraaz’.

Priyanka Chopra was back with a bang with her marvellous performance in ‘Fashion’ after a fleeting setback. This performance of hers won her the National Film Award for Best Actress. There was no stopping for the ‘Quantico’ girl after that. She kept on climbing the ladder of success and later ventured into her journey into Hollywood.

It gets very difficult to start anew when you’re already an influential person in one part of the world. But the hardworking actress did not hesitate to start from the beginning.  She turned her hands in Hollywood by playing the protagonist in the American drama series ‘Quantico’ and later on portrayed the supporting characters in ‘Baywatch’ and ‘Isn’t It Romantic’. The ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ actress kept on adding feathers to her crown while winning everyone’s heart with her remarkable performances in both Bollywood and Hollywood.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas undertook the oath of marriage with her husband Nick Jonas in December 2018. The actress is also known for her phenomenal and splendid performances in ‘Barfi’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ and the list can go on.

Recently, Miss World 2000 also signed a two-year multimillion-dollar deal with Amazon to produce different kinds of content in various languages. Apart from that, she also promotes social causes including environmental and women rights issues. The actress and singer was also appointed as the National and Global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for child rights in 2010 and 2016. This woman has made every Indian swell with pride by her incredible amount of hard work and dedication towards her work and society.

Today, on her birthday, we wish her all the very best for her future endeavours. Speaking on the work front, Priyanka Chopra Jonas will be next seen starring with Keanu Reeves in the upcoming American science fiction ‘The Matrix 4’ which is expected to release by 2022.
