It was made with the money of 500,000 farmers, members of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd, who donated Rs. 2 each. This Shyam Benegal film stars Smita Patil, Girish Karnad, Naseeruddin Shah, Mohan Agashe, Amrish Puri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and others.
