Woah! Varun Dhawan to ROMANCE Sara Ali Khan in ‘Coolie No.1’ remake? DETAILS INSIDE

New Delhi: Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan has managed to win the hearts of the audience and critics with a power-packed performance in her debut film ‘Kedarnath’. After romancing Sushant Singh Rajput in the Abhishek Kapoor directorial, the beautiful actress went on to star opposite Ranveer Singh in ‘Simmba’. The Rohit Shetty directorial has set the cash registers jingling and movie buffs are now looking forward to Sara’s next film. As per the latest buzz, the 23-year-old actress will romance another leading Bollywood actor in one of her upcoming films. We are talking about Varun Dhawan. A report in a leading daily suggested that Sara and Varun will team up for the remake of ‘Coolie No.1’. The film’s team wanted a fresh Jodi for the remake and the Dhawans felt Sara would be perfect for it, the report said. “Varun and Sara will share screen space in the former’s first home production. It will be directed by David Dhawan, who had also helmed the original. This will be the first film to roll out under their banner The One Entertainment. The team wanted a new jodi for the comedy and the Dhawans felt Sara would be apt for it,” a source told DNA. The report also said that Sara Ali Khan was offered the film much before she made her big Bollywood debut. “They were in talks for some time and had approached her even before Kedarnath hit the marquee. The idea is to adapt the original and modernise it. The 23-year-old will step into Karisma’s shoes, but the makers are changing the character sketch a bit and making it even more prominent in the remake,” the source further told the daily.

Varun Dhawan is currently busy completing the shoot of his other films. The ‘Sui Dhaaga’ actor will begin shooting for Remo D’Souza’s dance film opposite Shraddha Kapoor from January 22, the informer told the daily. The ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ star has plans to start work on ‘Coolie No.1’ around July and his and Sara’s bulk dates have already been locked. The makers are looking to release the film in the first half of 2020 during the festive season, as per the report.

For the uninitiated, ‘Coolie No.1’ starred the iconic Jodi of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. The film, which released in 1995, was a box office hit. (Karisma & Govinda in Coolie No.1) Speculations are rife that Sara Ali Khan will also be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’. Although, the director is yet to make an official announcement, it is rumoured that the star kid will feature in the second installment of the film.
