Bedhiya, Drishyam 2 Box Office Collection: Ajay Devgn-Starrer Inches Towards 150 Crore, Beats Varun Dhawan Film

Despite favourable reviews, Varun Dhawan's most recent movie, 'Bhediya', experienced a sharp decline at the box office.

New Delhi: 'Bhediya', Varun Dhawan's latest film, saw a steep drop on Monday despite favourable word-of-mouth and positive reviews. Following a remarkable Rs 11.50 crore nett on Sunday, 'Bhediya' only generated Rs 3.85 crore nett on Monday.

Taran Adarsh, a film trade expert, tweeted the movie's recent box office numbers and wrote,"#Bhediya should’ve performed better on the crucial Mon to cover lost ground… Needs to stay steady on remaining weekdays… Lack of major opposition [till #Avatar] can prove advantageous… Fri 7.48 cr, Sat 9.57 cr, Sun 11.50 cr, Mon 3.85 cr. Total: ₹ 32.40 cr. #India biz."

Meanwhile, the crime drama 'Drishyam 2', starring Ajay Devgn, is still dominating the box office. While sharing the most recent box office performance for the movie, Adarsh wrote,“#Drishyam2 continues its MAGNIFICENT RUN, packing an impressive number on [second] Mon… Target ₹ 200 cr+ is very much achievable… [Week 2] Fri 7.87 cr, Sat 14.05 cr, Sun 17.32 cr, Mon 5.44 cr. Total: ₹ 149.34 cr. #India biz.”

At the ticket counters, 'Drishyam 2' and 'Bhediya' are battling it out. Despite the intense competition, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan made an effort to acknowledge one another's work.

Varun praised the crime drama in a recent tweet and wrote,“#bhediya has given me so much love it feels amazing to see Soo many people coming to the theatres. A special Sunday as #Dhrishyam2 and #Bhediya give a lot of happiness to all cinema lovers congratulations @ajaydevgn sir and @AbhishekPathakk.”

Ajay Devgn responded to him by praising their shared success in drawing crowds to the theatres. “Hey @Varun_dvn I’m happy Bhediya & Drishyam 2 have managed to bring the audiences back to the theatres. It’s a feel good moment for us as an Industry. You're a rockstar,” he wrote on Twitter.

'Drishyam 2' directed by Abhishek Pathak is both a remake of Mohanlal's 2021 Malayalam film of the same name and a sequel to the 2015 smash hit 'Drishyam' starring Ajay and Tabu.

On the other hand, 'Bhediya' follows 'Roohi' (2021) and 'Stree' (2018) as the third entry in Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe.
