Alia Bhatt Wraps Filming For ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ After 2 Years: ‘Gigantic Life Changing Experience’

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming movie ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ embroiled itself in controversies ever since the announcement of the movie has been made. The filming of the biographical drama featuring Alia Bhatt in the role of the protagonist started in the year 2019 and the team faced many hurdles in the way of making this film.

After overcoming all the hurdles that came their way, the team of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has finally wrapped their shooting schedules. Alia Bhatt, who portrays the lead character in the movie, penned down a long heartfelt note as the film comes to a wrap.

Alia Bhatt shared some unseen pictures from the sets of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and wrote, “We started shooting Gangubai on the 8th of December 2019 .. and we wrapped the film now 2 years later! This film and set has been through two lockdowns.. two cyclones.. director and actor getting covid during the making!!! the troubles the set has faced is another film all together!”

Sharing her experience of working in the film, the ‘RRR’ actress shared, “But through all that and more.. what I take away is the gigantic life changing experience! Being directed by sir has been a dream all my life, but I don’t think anything would have prepared me for the journey I was on for these two years.. I walk out of this set a diff person today! I love you sir! Thank you for being you .. there is truly NO ONE like you”.

Emotional Alia then bid goodbye to her character Gangu and concluded, “When a film ends a part of you ends with it! Today I’ve lost a part of me.. Gangu I love you! You will be missed. P.S - special mention to my crew - my family and friends for these two years! without you nothing would have been possible! Love you guys!!!”

‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is slated to hit the big screens on July 30, 2021. Other than Alia, it stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles. Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi will be witnessed in an extended cameo in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
