Jo Bo-Ah Addresses ‘Knock Off’ Delay Amid Kim Soo-Hyun Controversy

Korean thriller ‘Knock Off’ has been indefinitely postponed due to a major controversy surrounding Kim Soo-Hyun's alleged dating scandal with the late Kim Sae-Ron.

The much-awaited Disney+ K-drama 'Knock Off' has been put on indefinite hold due to a dispute about its star, Kim Soo-Hyun, and his reported connection to the late actress Kim Sae-Ron. Earlier this year, the streaming service acknowledged the delay, but Jo Bo-Ah, the show's female star, has now openly addressed the matter.

While attending the Netflix premiere of her most recent drama, 'Dear Hongrang', Jo Bo-Ah addressed questions about the cancelled Disney+ series. Her comments followed months in which the actors of the show remained silent in the face of mounting media and public rumours.

As reported by Koreaboo, the actress said, “I know that a lot of you are curious to know, but I really can’t help but approach [talking about Knock Off] with a lot of caution. Just because what I say could unintentionally hurt someone, so I’d rather hold back on commenting.”

The actress expressed gratitude for the team's combined efforts on the project and hoped that their efforts would not go unappreciated.

“I will say Knock Off is a project where everyone involved poured a lot of energy and affection into, and I believe that effort will be recognised someday and lead to a good outcome,” she added.

About 'Knock Off'

The plot of 'Knock Off', which takes place amid the Asian financial crisis of 1997, revolves around an office worker named Knock who, after losing his job, resorts to dealing in counterfeit products in order to make ends meet. Through a darkly humorous prism, the series explores the tragic financial collapse of South Korea.

Even before the show's formal premiere, Disney+ had given the go-ahead for a sequel, and production had already ended. 'Knock Off', with a production budget of 60 billion KRW was one of the most ambitious Korean originals on the platform up to that point.
