New Delhi: Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor passed away last year leaving everyone teary-eyed. He breathed his last on April 30, 2020. During his lifetime, the ‘Chandni’ actor has received many awards and accolades for his contribution to the Hindi film industry. He also left some of his remarkable works on-screen for his fans to enjoy.
After his death, his fans were left heartbroken about the fact they will not be able to watch the legendary actor spill his magic on-screen. However, there is some good news for his fans as the last film of Rishi Kapoor titled ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ will be released in theatres this year. Though the shoot of the movie is still -pending, the makers endeavour to present the veteran actor’s last film as a tribute to his fans and him. The film is slated to release on Rishi Kapoor’s birthday this year on September 4.
To achieve this reality, Paresh Rawal has agreed to complete the remaining part of the film in the same role - a sensitive step that is unprecedented in Hindi cinema. The filmmakers and Paresh Rawal have taken this decision in order to release the film as a mark of respect for the legendary actor Rishi Kapoor.
Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani & Farhan Akhtar in association with MacGuffin Pictures, ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ has been directed by debutante Hitesh Bhatia. This film is a light-hearted coming-of-age story of a lovable 60-year-old man. The makers and team of ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ are ready to resume shoot soon with plans of a 2021 release.
