'I Was A Stillborn': Shilpa Shetty Reveals Her Mother Was Suggested To Abort Her
According to Shilpa Shetty, her mother was told she would likely suffer a miscarriage while she was pregnant with her.
New Delhi: Shilpa Shetty has begun promoting her next film ‘Sukhee’. The trailer of the film was released earlier and was met with much praise. She recently gave an interview in which she revealed a shocking fact about her own birth: her mother was advised to have an abortion. Because of this, Shilpa now calls herself a survivor. Shilpa was born to Sunanda Shetty in Mangalore, Karnataka, in 1975.
Talking to Zoom Entertainment, Shilpa said, "My mom told me that when I was conceived, she thought she was going to lose me, and the doctors suggested that she should abort the child because she went through a very difficult pregnancy. They thought she was going to have a miscarriage because she was constantly bleeding. I was stillborn. I just feel like I am a survivor."
Shilpa continued by saying it's one of the reasons she often posts motivational content on her social media accounts.
"So, she always believed that I was here for a purpose, and that just makes me feel like films are just a catalyst in my life. I’m here to maybe do something and maybe be a source of inspiration for people who are going through a lot. If you see my social media, I’m constantly putting up messages because we are all having a hard time in life. Not everyone has it easy", she added.
In ‘Sukhee’, Shilpa portrays Sukhpreet 'Sukhee' Kalra, a Punjabi housewife of 38 who, without telling her husband, travels to Delhi to attend her high school reunion and finds the independence she has been seeking. Kusha Kapila also plays a major role in the film.
The release date for ‘Sukhee is set for September 22.
Earlier, Shilpa appeared with Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia in the 2022 film 'Nikamma'.
