When asked what made the actor take his life, she said, “I could never know the truth of what took him to do what he did because I don’t live in his mind, contrary to popular belief. But I do know the truth about him being mentally ill, I do know the truth about what he was going through.”
When asked if she gave drugs to Sushant, Rhea denied and said that she is "done with this topic. I don’t want to talk about drugs, I don’t want to talk about NCB. I don’t want to talk about CBI".
Speaking about how she was targetted after the actor’s death, “They said that ever since she came into his life, he changed. He had his own identity before me. He was a guy who came from a small town. He made it so big in Bollywood. That is not a mind that can be controlled.”
Talking about missing Sushant, she said, “I don't think that hole can ever be filled. I miss him and it's going to be very difficult to live the rest of my life without that friend, that partner, that companion. But, life has happened to both of us and one has to move on."
Rajput, 34, was found hanging at his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14, 2020. After a case of alleged abetment to suicide was registered against Chakraborty by Rajput's parents, a parallel probe into alleged drug procurement by her also began on the basis of her WhatsApp chats.
In relation to the case, Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in September 2020 and was later shifted to the Byculla jail where she spent almost six weeks. She is currently out on bail and the matter is sub judice at the Bombay High Court.
