Years after working together on films like 'Guddi' and 'Chupke Chupke', Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan reunited in 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'. During her appearance on Karan Johar's show Koffee With Karan in 2007, the veteran star shared her thoughts on the timeless Hindi cinema hero.

Jaya Bachchan opens up about her major crush on Dharmendra

Jaya admitted she had a major crush on Dharmendra. She told talk show host Karan Johar about her first encounter with the actor. 

"I should have played Basanti! Because I loved Dharmendra," Jaya said on the show. 

She confessed, “I loved Dharmendra… You know when I saw him for the first time and I was introduced to him, there was a sofa like this. I went and hid behind it. I was so nervous! I didn’t know what to do. There was this fantastic-looking man. I still remember what he was wearing- white trousers and a white shirt and he looked like a Greek God.”

Dharmendra’s reaction to Jaya Bachchan’s confession

Dharmendra later responded to Jaya Bachchan when she confessed that she had a crush on him while filming the 1971 film 'Guddi'. The film marked Jaya's debut in Bollywood.

In response to a question about whether Jaya really did hide behind the sofa when he arrived on Guddi sets, Dharmendra, the seasoned actor, told Zoom, “This is her love and respect speaking. I’ve known Jaya and Amitabh for a very long time now. I still remember the fun times that we had while shooting for Sholay.”

Jaya and Dharmendra returned to the big screen together in 'Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani', along with Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Shabana Azmi. The film is directed by Karan Johar.
