Honey Singh And Wife Shalini Talwar Granted Divorce By A Delhi Court, Domestic Abuse Claims Withdrawn Post Settlement
After nearly 13 years of marriage, singer-rapper Honey Singh and his wife Shalini Talwar were granted a divorce by a Delhi court on Tuesday.
New Delhi: After nearly 13 years of marriage, singer-rapper Honey Singh and his wife Shalini Talwar were granted a divorce by a Delhi court on Tuesday. The case's second application was granted by Principal Judge Paramjit Singh of the family court, ending a nearly two-and-a-half-year legal battle.
In accordance with the Hindu Marriage Act, a second motion is filed six to eighteen months after the initial divorce petition is filed. The six to eighteen-month period is designated as an interregnum, meant to allow the parties time and space to consider their decision to file for divorce.
After being married to Shalini Talwar for 11 years (from January 2011), Honey and Shalini jointly filed for divorce in the family court in September 2022, citing section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. The six-month interregnum period was granted by the court upon acceptance of the petition.

Speaking on behalf of Honey, attorney Ishan Mukherjee informed Hindustan Times that "the divorce decree has been issued and the second motion has been granted." He claimed that the issue was a private matrimonial concern, but he declined to comment further. Talwar's attorney, Advocate Vivek Singh, declined to comment on the matter, claiming that it is a marital dispute.
In August 2021, Shalini also filed a domestic abuse lawsuit against the singer with the Delhi Tis Hazari Court. A few days after the lawsuit was submitted, Honey posted on social media, denouncing the accusations as "malicious," "false," and "odious." However, following a settlement between the parties, the allegations were dropped.
