Alia Bhatt Walks Out Of Ranbir Kapoor And Yash Starrer Ramayan: Report

Alia Bhatt's real-life spouse Ranbir Kapoor plays Ram in the upcoming film and she was in talks to play Sita.

New Delhi: Alia Bhatt has reportedly left Nitesh Tiwari helmed upcoming adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and 'KGF' actor Yash were all cast in the lead roles in the movie. A Pinkvilla report states that due to issues with scheduling, Alia had no chance to join in the movie. Her real-life spouse Ranbir Kapoor plays Ram in the upcoming film and she was in talks to play Sita.

"As far as the casting is concerned, Ranbir Kapoor is still committed to playing Lord Ram, while Alia Bhatt - who was approached for the project - is no longer part of it. The actress was in talks for the role of Goddess Sita, but the collaboration didn’t work out because of date issues," a source disclosed to Pinkvilla.

According to the report, the commencement of the film's shoot is also being delayed. The movie was scheduled to begin shooting this December, and pre-production work was already in full force. However, the production schedule may shift slightly now.

“It’s understandable that a magnum opus like Ramayana requires time and intense pre-production work, as they are going into the smallest details of everything to get it right on screen. Which is why things are progressing at a slower pace," the insider said.

The report also stated that Yash is still involved in the project. Despite the rumours, the Kannada actor is still fully engaged in talks with the film's producers and is not quitting the project.

“The look test has already happened with Yash, and the conversation has progressed positively. The makers are optimistic about getting him on board, but he has not yet signed. Yash is also committed to National Award-winning director Geethu Mohandas for a big-scale action thriller, so his casting in the Ramayana depends on what he prioritizes," the source added.

Nitesh was questioned about the cast of his movie in July, but he did not confirm or deny that Ranbir, Alia, and Yash were in it. Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly been chosen to play Ram, although there is no official confirmation of this. According to recent reports, Yash has been going through a few look tests for the character of Ravan.
