Uttarakhand Polls | Congress Remembering Char Dham's Name For 1st Time: PM Modi During Vijay Sankalp Sabha
The PM during his Vijay Sankalp Sabha criticised the Congress for ignoring Uttarakhand and not promoting pilgrimage, tourism, or Chardham despite being in power at the Centre.
New Delhi: With just a week left for the Uttarakhand assembly election 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party has stepped up its campaigning effort with Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually addressing the voters of Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital today.
The Prime Minister during his Vijay Sankalp Sabha launched a scathing attack on the Congress party in the state. He accused the Congress of stalling development work in Uttarakhand and derailing the progress of the state.
The PM called Congress a party steeped in corruption and run by a family. "They (Congress) know only 4 things, whatever they do will be for a family's benefit, will have corruption, will be politics of appeasement for votes, & will have developmental projects postponed for years, so they can fill their own pockets. I've a report on all 4 today," said PM Modi during the Vijay Sankalp Sabha.

He also criticised the Congress for ignoring Uttarakhand and not promoting pilgrimage, tourism, or Chardham despite being in power at the Centre and the undivided state of Uttar Pradesh for several years.
“Today when the double engine government has given Rs 12,000 crore and completed 90 percent work for Char Dham road project, they are remembering Char Dham’s name for the first time. Had they understood Uttarakhand’s people, they would not have done what they did with Rishikesh–Karnaprayag railway line, ” said PM Modi.
During the rally, PM Modi also promised to visit Srinagar on February 10 for campaining for the assembly election in the state.
"I will reach Srinagar on Feb 10 to gain blessings in Uttarakhand. A few people are here to ruin the state, these people are the same who pushed Uttarakhand people out of Delhi in buses during the COVID19 crisis, in winters, said the PM.
Earlier on Monday, the PM accused the Congress of putting the national security of the country on the backburner by stopping development work required in several border villages of Uttarakhand. "They did not hesitate to put even the security of the country at risk to push back development works of Uttarakhand. There are some people who do not want to do good themselves, and if someone else does good then it troubles them. This has been the attitude of the Congress towards Uttarakhand. Congress had been blocking development work in Uttarakhand as it was created despite its opposition," PM Modi was quoted by news agency ANI.
