UP Election 2022: BJP Postpones Release Of Manifesto Following Lata Mangeshkar’s Demise

As per ABP sources, the BJP was set to make an announcement of doubling the financial assistance for the farmers under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi in its manifesto.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was scheduled to release on Sunday its manifesto for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, has postponed the same in view of the demise of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were set to release the BJP’s ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra’ or manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls at the party office in Lucknow on Sunday.

As per ABP sources, the BJP was set to make an announcement of doubling the financial assistance for the farmers under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi in its manifesto.

Sources added the saffron party was also set to announce laptops for the students and scooty for the college going girl students and working women besides giving three free LPG cylinders every year under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in its manifesto.

Earlier in the day, both Shah and Adityanath observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the singing legend.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rallies in Uttar Pradesh and Goa have also been cancelled following Mangeshkar’s demise.

Prime Minister Modi will visit the Maharashtra capital later in the day to pay his last respects to the legendary singer, who breathed her last at the age of 92 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital.

Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7.

Polling for the 40-member Goa Assembly will take place in a single phase on February 14.

The counting of votes in both states will be held on March 10.
