'If I Signal...': Akbaruddin Owaisi 'Threatens' Cop For Flagging Poll Code Breach — WATCH

AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi allegedly threatened a police officer who flagged an MCC breach to him while he was addressing a rally in Hyderabad.

All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has allegedly threatened an a police officer after he was asked to conclude his speech on time as per the Model Code of Conduct. Owaisi asked the officer to leave the spot immediately and said that just a signal to his supporters would result in the police official running. The AIMIM leader was addressing a public gathering in the Lalitbagh area of Telangana's Hyderabad when the incident occurred. Santosh Nagar SHO filed a case against him under section 353 (obstructing official duties) IPC and other relevant sections, said DCP South East Zone, Rohit Raju.

During his address, Owaisi said, "Do you think that after facing knife and bullets I got weak? There's a lot of courage left in me. Five minutes are still left for my address and I will address those five minutes. No one has the guts to stop me. If I signal then you (Police Inspector) will have to run. Shall we make him run?"

Akbaruddin Owaisi, brother of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, is a candidate from the Chandrayangutta constituency - an AIMIM stronghold from where the party has won the past two elections.

Asaduddin Owaisi while talking about this incident said, "If the time was 10:01 pm, you have all the right to stop us. When five minutes were left why did he come to the podium?... The law is permitting and you tell us to stop it five minutes before?... One could react if it's 10:01 pm...What's this behaviour? One could say a lot in five minutes. For a speaker, opening and concluding statement is important."
