Apple May Have A Pocket-Friendly Surprise For iPhone SE Fans This Month: What We Know So Far

iPhone SE could be priced at around Rs 39,900, staying in line with previous iterations of Apple's SE series.

Apple might surprise fans by launching its next-generation iPhone SE much sooner than expected, possibly as early as next week, according to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. While the tech giant was previously expected to release the phone in 2025, the new timeline suggests sales could begin by the end of this month. Unlike Apple's usual high-profile product launches, this reveal may simply be announced via a press release rather than a formal event — similar to how the iPad Mini was introduced last year.

iPhone SE To Get Face ID For The First Time

The iPhone SE, Apple's budget-friendly option since its 2016 debut, is reportedly getting a significant design overhaul. The existing model, released in 2022, resembles the ageing iPhone 8 with its iconic home button and Touch ID. The new version, however, is expected to resemble the iPhone 14, featuring a larger edge-to-edge display and possibly replacing Touch ID with Face ID.

Codenamed "V59," this new iPhone SE is rumoured to be the first Apple product to ditch Qualcomm’s modem in favour of a custom-designed Apple modem. Under the hood, it could also feature the powerful A18 chip, the same processor rumoured for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. These hardware upgrades might position the SE to support Apple’s latest AI-driven features like Writing Tools, Genmoji, and Clean Up, ensuring better longevity even with infrequent updates.

USB-C Incoming

Another noteworthy shift could be the adoption of a USB-C charging port, marking Apple's continued departure from the Lightning connector following European regulatory requirements.

iPhone SE Price (Expected)

While official pricing details are yet to be confirmed, industry experts predict that Apple may maintain a starting price near the current $429 / £419 / AU$719 / Rs 39,900 for Indian users with the possibility of slight increases.

If Apple unveils the new iPhone SE next week, it could be the first in a string of upcoming product announcements. Reports hint at future launches, including a MacBook Air powered by an M4 chip, the Powerbeats Pro 2, a refreshed entry-level iPad, and an updated iPad Air — though these remain speculative for now.
