Suvendu Adhikari Calls CM Mamata 'Cruel Lady', Says BJP Will Bring Double Engine Govt In Bengal

Suvendu Adhikari stated that BJP is working towards bringing a nationalist double-engine government in West Bengal and accused TMC of unleashing violence against Hindus in Sandeshkhali.

West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari hit out at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee while addressing a panel discussion on political violence in West Bengal at Jawaharlal Nehru University on Saturday and called her a 'cruel lady.' Suvendu further stated that the BJP is working towards bringing a nationalist double-engine government in West Bengal and claimed that the party will end Mamata's rule in the state.

He stated : "Stop calling Mamata Banerjee called 'Didi' she has now become a 'aunty' now...I defeated her in Nandigram during the assembly elections. She lodged 42 cases against me."

Suvendu accused the ruling All India Trinamool Congress of unleashing violence against Hindus while speaking about the ongoing Sandeshkhali protests in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.

Suvendu alleged: "Today, Hindus in West Bengal are in danger under the TMC government. The party is changing the demography of the state by letting Bangladeshi migrants infiltrate and settle in the state. Slowly and gradually the present government will make West Bengal a part of Bangladesh."

While criticising the alleged sexual violence against women and incidents of land grabbing in Sandeshkhali, Suvendu urged the students in JNU to raise their voices against the issue. "JNU is a hub of critical discussions and they (students) should raise their voices against whatever is happening in West Bengal to uproot the complicit government," he said.

BJP MP Dilip Ghosh commented on the ongoing unrest in Sandeshkhali saying: "Shahjahan will not be caught because this government does not want to. People like him bring votes and money to the TMC. The DG who was himself absconding from CBI, how will he catch him (Shahjahan)... He (DG) was missing for 2-3 hours yesterday, where was he? He went to meet Shahjahan and assured him to not worry... Mamata Banerjee is not going to Sandeshkhali because she does not have the courage to face the anger of the people."

Sandeshkhali has been witnessing massive protests ever since the locals alleged that the TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh and his aides had been sexually assaulting and usurping their land. Sheikh however has been absconding ever since his supporters attacked the Enforcement Directorate team that had come to the state to raid his premises as part of an alleged Public Distribution System scam.
