BJP Appoints Kiren Rijiju As Election In-Charge For Mizoram, Anil Antony Made Co-Incharge

After announcing election in-charges for poll-bound Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, the BJP has announced its poll in-charge for the forthcoming Mizoram election.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed prominent party leader and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju as the election in-charge for the forthcoming Mizoram election, according to an official statement released on Friday. Additionally, Yanthungo Patton, the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, and the party's National General Secretary Anil Antony have been designated as election co-incharges.

In a parallel development, the saffron party has appointed Jatinder Pal Malhotra as the President of the Chandigarh BJP, further reinforcing its organisational structure.

In June, the BJP had appointed election in-charges for other poll-bound states, including Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. In this move, former Union Minister and senior party leader Prakash Javadekar was entrusted with the role of election in-charge for Telangana, a state where the BJP is striving to strengthen its political presence challenging the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

The responsibilities for Madhya Pradesh have been assigned to Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, an experienced leader who has overseen elections in Bihar and Gujarat in the past. He will be supported by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The announcements came amid BJP's determined efforts to retain power in Madhya Pradesh where it usurped power from the Congress in 2019.

Rajasthan, on the other hand, is gearing up for a closely contested election between the BJP and the Congress. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has been named as the election in-charge, with Nitin Patel and Kuldeep Bishnoi serving as co-incharges for the state.

In the state of Chhattisgarh, senior party leader Om Mathur assumed the position of the party's election in-charge. He will be supported by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in this crucial role.

Mizoram is currently governed by the Mizo National Front (MNF) under the leadership of Chief Minister Zoramthanga. Major political players in the state include the MNF, the Indian National Congress (INC), and the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM).

The northeastern state with 40 assembly seats will undergo polling on November 7. The counting of votes for all five states, including Mizoram, is scheduled for December 3, with the electoral process concluding on December 5.
