Maharashtra CM Likely To Take Oath On Dec 2; PM Modi, Amit Shah To Attend Ceremony — Details

The Mahayuti alliance had emerged victorious in the Maharashtra Assembly polls held on November 20. The BJP won 132 seats, while the Shiv Sena and the NCP won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

Maharashtra CM Oath-Taking Ceremony: The oath-taking ceremony for the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra is likely to be held on December 2 at the Wankhede Stadium, sources told ABP News.

The ceremony will be attended by top Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other senior leaders of the central government. Besides them, all the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of other states who belong to the NDA, and several industrialists are invited to the swearing-in ceremony.

Despite the announcement of the date for the oath-taking ceremony, it remains unknown as to who will be chosen as the next Maharashtra Chief Minister.

The development comes after caretaker CM and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde clarified that he would support whatever decision is taken by PM Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party regarding the next CM and that his Shiv Sainiks would also support it.

Sources also told ABP News that the leaders of all three Mahayuti allies will be meeting Amit Shah on Thursday to discuss about the upcoming government's structure, portfolio distribution, and CM's face.

Shinde had addressed a press conference on Wednesday evening, saying that the he has always believed in working for the welfare of the people as a "common man" and would continue to do so. He even thanked the PM and Amit Shah for the support they extended to him in developing the state.

Even though Shinde's presser brushed away the speculations about a possible rift in the alliance over the CM candidate, the confusion continues as the Mahayuti has not yet announced any name for the coveted post.

The Mahayuti won the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the results for which was announced on November 23. However, after the massive victory, the alliance entered a deadlock over the choice of next CM, with reports saying that Shinde might exit the alliance if Devendra Fadnavis is chosen. With today's press conference, Shinde has made it clear for now that he is not someone who becomes sad, but instead fights to work for the people. He also stated clearly that he has no issues with whoever is chosen for as the Maharashtra CM as he is not interested in power, but merely working for the state's betterment.

The BJP won 132 seats, while the Shiv Sena and the NCP won 57 and 41 seats, respectively. In MVA, the Shiv Sena (UBT) secured 20 seats, Congress won 16, and Sharad Pawar's NCP won 10 seats.
