MP CM Mohan Yadav Takes 'Bade Maharaja', 'Hollow Chhindwara Model' Digs At Kamal Nath: WATCH

BJP fielded Vivek Bunty Sahu against Congress's Nakul Nath from the Chhindwara seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

With the Bharatiya Janata Party trying to snatch away the lone Madhya Pradesh seat it lost to Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday took a jibe at "Bade Maharaja" former MP CM Kamal Nath, who represented the Congress's bastion in 2014, calling his Chhindwara model "hollow". Yadav during an event in Bhopal today, where several Congress leaders and workers joined the saffron camp, stated that per trends based on the polling held during phase 1, BJP will secure all 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who was present at the event, welcomed the leaders and workers swtiching over from the grand old party. He said, "We accept you all (Congress leaders & workers) with an open heart in our family (BJP); as I already said, in a way sugar is ground in milk, similarly we have welcomed you all."

Yadav also urged them to feel free and put across their suggestions saying, "You can put your suggestions on any issue.Trends are quite friendly and with a thumping majority BJP government is all set to be formed."

Recently, former CM Kamal Nath faced a huge blow when several of his loyalists, including Deepak Saxena joined BJP.

In 2019, the saffron party won 28 out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats and is also eyeing the Chhindwara seat this time, which was earlier bagged by the Congress after Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath defeated BJP's Nathan Shah by over 37,000 votes.

In a bid to weaken the dominance of the grand old party, BJP intensified its efforts in Madhya Pradesh, with top brass like Union Home Minister Amit Shah holding a road show in the city CM Mohan Yadav too attending public meetings in support of BJP candidate Sahu, targeting the Nath family’s wealth.

BJP has fielded Vivek Bunty Sahu against Congress's Nakul Nath for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Polling Held In 6 Lok Sabha Seats In Madhya Pradesh

The development came in a day after the first phase of polling was held in the state on April 19 for six Lok Sabah seats, covering 13 districts and 27 assembly segments.

Of the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in the BJP-ruled state, polling was held in Balaghat, Shahdol, Mandla (both reserved for Scheduled Tribes), Jabalpur, Chhindwara and Sidhi seats on Friday.

Out of these, Jabalpur has 19 candidates, highest in the state, while Shadold has the lowest with just ten candidates in the fray.

Madhya Pradesh will caste ballots for the remaining 23 seats during three more phases of Lok Sabha elections on April 26, May 7 and May 13.
