PM Modi Invokes 2020 Northeast Delhi Riots: 'Opportunistic Alliance Can Spread Violence For Appeasement'
PM Narendra Modi criticised the opposition for 'hindering' development in Delhi, linking it to the 2020 anti-CAA protests and Delhi riots.
Addressing a public rally in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the opposition, accusing them of hindering development efforts in the capital while promising a surge of progress ahead of the 2024 elections. "Amid development works happening here, the INDIA alliance is busy destroying Delhi... They are not leaving any opportunity to loot the people of Delhi," PM Modi asserted, pointing fingers at the opposition for alleged corruption and mismanagement.
In an apparent dig at Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, PM Modi remarked, "They came in the name of eliminating corruption, but today they are in jail due to scams worth crores of rupees."

He underscored the significance of the upcoming elections, stating, "This is the time when Bharat is taking a leap for development. The 2024 elections are to make India one of the top three economies in the world."

PM Modi Invokes 2020 Northeast Delhi Riots: 'Held Delhi Hostage For Months, Blocked Roads, Created Riots'
Referring to the 2020 anti-CAA protest and Northest Delhi riot, PM Modi said, “This opportunistic alliance can also spread violence in the country for the sake of appeasement. Remember, when the CAA law came, they held Delhi hostage for months. First blocked the roads, then created riots. But today their lies have been exposed. Refugees living in Delhi for years are getting citizenship."
The Prime Minister's remarks can also be seen in reference to the Shaheen Bagh protests where women staged a sit-in demonstration against the CAA and NRC plan.

PM Modi also highlighted his government's efforts in providing citizenship to refugees residing in Delhi, indicating progress in regularization procedures.
Four Generations Of Congress Ruled In Delhi, But Today Party Can't Even Contest On 4 Seats: PM Modi
Turning the spotlight on the Congress party, PM Modi criticised its decline in Delhi's political landscape. "Four generations of Congress ruled in Delhi, but today such is the state of the party that they can't even contest on 4 seats here," he stated.
Underlining his commitment to the welfare of Delhi's residents, PM Modi assured, "Modi is dedicated to making the lives of people in Delhi easier. We are working to regularise the unauthorised colonies of Delhi. Alongside that, we are working to provide slum dwellers with pucca houses."
He also reminisced about the past neglect of India's soldiers and police forces, stating, "Post-independence, the demand for a 'National War Memorial' persisted. Unfortunately, it took decades for the importance of honoring our brave soldiers to be recognised. Modi came, and it was built."
Looking towards the future, PM Modi emphasised the need for a stable government and a strong India, declaring, "The 2024 elections are crucial to defeat the mindset of nepotism that has shattered the dreams of our youth for decades, and to defeat those forces that want to weaken India."
Concluding his speech with a powerful assertion, PM Modi declared, "Mera koi waris nahi hai. 140 crore deshwasi, wahi mere waris hain..." (I have no heir. The 1.4 billion citizens of this country are my heirs...)

In Northeast Delhi, incumbent MP and BJP's Manoj Tiwari is engaged in an electoral contest with Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar. Polling in the national capital will take place on May 25 in the sixth phase of election.
