Hyderabad Lok Sabha Results: Will Owaisi Retain AIMIM Bastion Against BJP's Madhavi Latha?

Hyderabad Lok Sabha Results: In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Hyderabad, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is up against BJP's Kompella Madhavi Latha.

Hyderabad Lok Sabha Results: Hyderabad, a parliamentary constituency in Telangana is one of the key seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The constituency, which has been Asaduddin Owaisi’s bastion since 2004, went to polls on May 13 in the fourth phase.

Hyderabad comprises seven assembly constituencies including Yakutpura, Chandrayangutta, Malakpet, Charminar,Karwan,Bahadurpura, and Goshamahal.

Predominantly influenced by Muslim voters, the Hyderabad constituency, has always witnessed a political battle between India National Conference and All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen. But this time, BJP has brought in Madhavi Latha to challenge Owaisi’s dominance in the region.

A newcomer to politics, Latha is a firebrand leader and even conducted a roadshow in the Hyderabad constituency with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Hyderabad, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, is up against BJP's Kompella Madhavi Latha, Mohammed Waliullah Sameer of the Congress and BRS candidate Gaddam Srinivas Yadav.

This year, Hyderabad recorded a voter turnout of 48.48 percent, according to the data revealed by the Election Commission of India.

Asaduddin Owaisi won the parliamentary elections in 2019 from Hyderabad seat, defeating Bhagavanth Rao from BJP with a margin of 32.14 percent.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, AIMIM and BJP secured a vote share of 58.95 percent and 26.8 percent, respectively. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, AIMIM and BJP polled 52.9 percent and 32.06 percent vote share, respectively.

The revelation of the seat’s electoral fate has been locked, but the results will be announced on June 4. However, ahead of the results declaration, the exit polls by ABP CVoter projected a stiff competition between the I.N.D.I.A bloc and NDA. While the opposition alliance is anticipated to secure 7 to 9 seats with a vote share of 38.6 percent, the NDA too is likely to get 7 to 9 seats as well.

However, Axis My India exit poll shows the BJP may get 11 to 12 of 17 seats and the Congress 4 to 6 in the state.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) that once ruled Hyderabad is projected to receive 20.3 percent vote share, while AIMIM is expected to secure 2 percent of the overall vote share, as per ABP CVoter survey.

Axis My India exit poll, on the other hand, projected that the AIMIM and BRS will likely win 0-1 seats each, showing the possibility of the Hyderabad seat slipping away from Owaisi’s hand.
