Congress Appoints Observers For Upcoming Assembly Elections In Meghalaya, Tripura & Nagaland

New Delhi: The Congress on Monday nominated observers for the approaching assembly elections in Meghalaya, Tripura, and Nagaland scheduled to be held early next year, with party MP Mukul Wasnik chosen senior observer for all three states, news agency PTI reported.

"The Congress president has appointed senior observer and observers for ensuing assembly elections 2023 for the respective states, with immediate effect," the party said in an official communication, PTI reported.
Benny Mehnan, a party member from Kerala, and former MP JD Seelam have been selected as observers for the elections in Meghalaya, while Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Wasnik has been named senior observer for the elections in the three states.

Former Goa chief minister Francisco Sardinha and MP K Jayakumar have been designated as observers for the elections in Nagaland, while Arvinder Singh Lovely, the chairman of the Congress' Delhi branch, and MP Abdul Khaleque have been designated as observers for the elections in Tripura, PTI reported.

Early in the next year, elections for the three northeastern states' assemblies are scheduled, in which the Congress would attempt to seize power.
