After exit poll results, Amit Shah to host dinner for NDA leaders; Modi also likely to be present

New Delhi: As the exit polls for 2019 election predicted a Modi-led NDA government at the Centre, BJP chief Amit Shah has invited the leaders of the National Democratic Alliance on Tuesday, ahead of the counting of votes. As per sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be a part of the meet, which has been convened to chalk out its strategy in wake of the poll outcome. “Union Council of Ministers likely to meet tomorrow; BJP President Amit Shah to host a dinner for NDA leaders tomorrow, ” news agency ANI also tweeted. The polling for the Lok Sabha elections took place in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes is to be done on May 23. There are a total of 542 seats in lower house of the Parliament and for majority any party or alliance needs to secure at least 272 seats. The NDA has as many as 40 political parties, but there are 9 major parties which have a strong influence in the alliance. Oe of the key partners of BJP is the Nitish Kumar-led JDU. After BJP, the largest parry in NDA is Shiv Sena. BJP’s oldest ally SAD led by Sukhbir Singh Badal is also in the alliance. As per the ABP Exit Poll, the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is all set to return to power winning 277 seats in Lok Sabha elections, five seats above the majority mark. The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) could win 130 seats while other regional parties are tipped to win 135 seats. The BJP alone is expected to win 227 seats, a 30 per cent decline over 2014, while the Congress is seen bagging 87 seats (almost a 200 per cent jump).
