Visakhapatnam: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kambhampati Hari Babu from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 90488 votes. The polling / voting in Visakhapatnam constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s M.V. Sribharat and YSR Congress Party#s MVV Satyanarayana

Visakhapatnam 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 67.53% Lok Sabha percent with 66.87% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 68.21% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 7329 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 22 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Visakhapatnam, 20 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Kambhampati Hari Babu of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Y.S Vijayamma by a margin of 90488 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Telugu Desam Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Janardhana Reddy Nedurumalli attained 524122 votes and TDP's Dr.M.V.V.S.Murthy bagged 393551 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 38919 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader M.V.V.S.Murthy attained 442036 votes and Indian National Congress candidate T.Subbarami Reddy bagged 403117 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 61517 votes INC candidate Subbarami Reddy.T had got 375782 while TDP got Ananda Gajapathi Raju Pusapati votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Telugu Desam Party here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Telugu Desam Party counterpart with a difference of 7459 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Telugu Desam Party and Indian National Congress here Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 5138 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 25733 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Uma Gajapathi Raju Poosapati attained 352326 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate M.V.V.S. Murthy bagged 326593 votes
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate Bhattam Sreerama Murthy attained 334399 votes and INC's Narayana Murthy Patrudu Sukhavasi bagged 193968 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 34635 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Appalaswamy Kommuru attained 206581 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Bhattam Srirama Murthy bagged 171946 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated BLD candidate with a difference of 42829 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Dronamraju Satyanarayana attained 171657 votes and BLD candidate Tenneti Viswanathan bagged 128828 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 67188 votes IND candidate P. V. G. Raju had got 184464 while IND got Tenneti Viswanatham votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 34073 votes. Here, Independent leader T. Viswanatham attained 136766 votes and INC candidate P. Venkatrao bagged 102693 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SWA candidate by a margin of 91142 votes INC candidate Vijaya Ananada had got 159423 while SWA got Maddi Pattabhirama Reddy votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 61114 votes IND candidate Pusapati Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju had got 88563 while INC got Mallavarapu Venkata Krishna Rao votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 16616 votes. Here, Independent leader Lanka Sundaram attained 140718 votes and INC candidate K. Subbaraju bagged 124102 votes
