Surendranagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Fatepara Devajibhai Govindbhai from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 202907 votes. The polling / voting in Surendranagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Mahendra Bhai Munjpara and Congress Party#s Somabhai patel

Surendranagar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 26 out of the 26 parliamentary seat with 60.11 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 33.45 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Surendranagar Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 57.02% Lok Sabha percent with 61.79% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Out of the 17 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Surendranagar, 15 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Fatepara Devajibhai Govindbhai of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Koli Patel Somabhai Gandalal by a margin of 202907 votes.

Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Koli Patel Somabhai Gandabhai attained 219872 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Savshibhai Kanjibhai Makwana bagged 185928 votes
• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 25905 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Makwana Savshibhai Kanjibhai attained 244368 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Dave Bhavnaben Kardamkumar bagged 218463 votes
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Bharatiya Janta Party and Indian National Congress here Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 9661 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 64852 votes INC candidate Sanat Mehta had got 199593 while BJP got Koli Patel Somabhai Gandabhai votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 10886 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Kolipatel Somabhai Gadabhai attained 189389 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Sanat Magnlal Mehta bagged 178503 votes
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Koli Patel Somabhai Gandabhi attained 257344 votes and INC's Digvijayasinhji Pratapsinhji Jhala bagged 129671 votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 36378 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Jhala Digivijaysinhji Pratapsinhji attained 191632 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Shah Babulal bagged 155254 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP candidate by a margin of 84516 votes INC(I) candidate Digvijaysinh Pratapsinhg Zala had got 193632 while JNP got Parmar Juvansinh Jilubha votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between BLD and INC here BLD candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 5433 votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and IND here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his IND counterpart with a difference of 8691 votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 72001 votes SWA candidate Meghrajji had got 169191 while INC got V.J. Dagli votes.
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 42051 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ghanshyambhai Chhotalal Oza attained 123006 votes and IND candidate Bhanumatiben Dahyabhai Patel bagged 80955 votes
