Background

Sitapur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Rajesh Verma from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 51027 votes. The polling / voting in Sitapur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Rajesh Verma and Bahujan Samaj Party#s Nakul Dubey

Sitapur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Sitapur Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 66.25% Lok Sabha percent with 69.46% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 62.46% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 12682 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 16 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sitapur, 14 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Rajesh Verma of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Kaiser Jahan by a margin of 51027 votes.

Here, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Rajesh Verma attained 211120 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Janardan Prasad Misra bagged 174758 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate with a difference of 27920 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Janardan Prasad Misra attained 216874 votes and Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Prem Nath Varma bagged 188954 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 10046 votes. Here, Samajwadi Party leader Mukhtar Anis attained 148252 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Janaradan Prasad Mishra bagged 138206 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 37706 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Janardan Prasad Misra attained 134569 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Rajendra Kuumari Bajpai (W) bagged 96863 votes

  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, BJS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 26074 votes. Here, BJS leader S. Nand attained 102742 votes and INC candidate Jagannath bagged 76668 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between JS and INC here JS candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 3377 votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BJS candidate by a margin of 57067 votes INC candidate Pragi Lal had got 192005 while BJS got Bhola Nath Vakil votes.
