Background

Sirsa: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Charanjeet Singh Rori from Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won the elections by a margin of 115736 votes. The polling / voting in Sirsa constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 6 on 12 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Smt Suneeta Duggal and Congress Party#s Ashok Tanwar

Sirsa 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 7 out of the 10 parliamentary seat with 34.7 percent vote share while the Indian National Lok Dal managed to win just 2 seats with a 24.4 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 77.03% Lok Sabha percent with 78.18% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Out of the 18 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sirsa, 15 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Charanjeet Singh Rori of the Indian National Lok Dal as he defeated Ashok Tanwar by a margin of 115736 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Lok Dal candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INLD candidate Dr. Sushil Kumar Indora attained 419278 votes and INC's Om Parkash bagged 199552 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, HLD(R) candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 93930 votes HLD(R) candidate Dr.Sushil Kumar Indora had got 309451 while INC got Selja votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SAP candidate with a difference of 15147 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Selja attained 275459 votes and SAP candidate Sushil Kumar bagged 260312 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JP candidate by a margin of 99098 votes INC candidate Shailja (W) had got 287927 while JP got Het Ram votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 38413 votes. Here, JD leader Het Ram attained 304768 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Mani Ram bagged 266355 votes
