Krishnanagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Tapas Paul from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the elections by a margin of 71255 votes. The polling / voting in Krishnanagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 4 on 29 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Kalyan Chaubey and All India Trinamool Congress#s Mahua Motira

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 40672 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Ajoy Mukhopadhyay attained 372490 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Satyabrata Mookherjee bagged 331818 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 38910 votes. पश्चिम बंगाल में चुनाव प्रचार के आखिरी दिन मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी पर खूब बरसीं. उन्होंने कहा कि उन्होंने (पीएम मोदी) कहा कि वह विद्यासागर की मूर्ति बनवाएंगे. बंगाल के पास मूर्ति बनाने के पैसे हैं. क्या वह 200 साल पुराना हेरिटेज लौटा सकते हैं? हमारे पास सबूत है और आप कह रहे हैं कि टीएमसी ने किया है. क्या आपको शर्म नहीं आती है? इतना झूठ बोलने के लिए उन्हें उठक-बैठक करनी चाहिए. आरोप साबित करिए नहीं तो मैं आपको जेल भेजूंगी.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने केंद्र, सीबीएसई से केंद्रीय शिक्षक पात्रता परीक्षा (CTET) में आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर वर्गों के लिए 10 प्रतिशत आरक्षण की मांग करने संबंधी याचिका पर जवाब देने को कहा.

पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने चुनाव आयोग की कार्रवाई को लेकर विपक्षी दलों की प्रतिक्रिया के बाद उन्हें धन्यवाद किया है. उन्होंने ट्वीट कर मायावती, अखिलेश यादव, कांग्रेस, चंद्रबाबू नायडू का धन्यवाद कहा. उन्होंने कहा कि चुनाव आयोग का पक्षपाती कार्रवाई लोकतंत्र पर हमला है. जनता इसका माकूल जवाब देगी.

कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी आज अलवर जिले के थानागाजी पहुंचे और गैंगरेप पीड़िता के परिवार वालों से मिले. राहुल के साथ प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत, उपमुख्यमंत्री सचिन पायलट भी थे. अलवर जिले के थानागाजी थाना क्षेत्र में 26 अप्रैल को पति के साथ मोटरसाइकिल पर जा रही एक दलित महिला से छह लोगों ने सामूहिक दुष्कर्म कर उसका वीडियो बनाया.
