The polling / voting in Kottayam constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Communist Party of India#s V.N.Vasavan and Kerala Congress (M)#s Thomas Chalikkadan

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Congress won 8 out of the 20 parliamentary seat with 31.1 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 5 seats with a 21.6 percent vote share.

Here, Communist Party of India leader Suresh Kurup attained 344296 votes and Indian National Congress candidate P.C. Chacko bagged 333697 votes

मोदी ने यहां अपना नामांकन पत्र दाखिल करने के बाद संवाददाताओं से कहा कि ऐसा माहौल कुछ लोग बनाने लगे हैं कि मोदी जी तो जीत गये इसलिए वोट नहीं करोगे तो चलेगा . कृपा करके ऐसे लोगों की बात में मत आइये.
