Gandhinagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, L.K.Advani from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 483121 votes. The polling / voting in Gandhinagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Amit Shah and Congress Party#s Dr. C.j chavda

Gandhinagar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 26 out of the 26 parliamentary seat with 60.11 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 33.45 percent vote share.

Out of the 18 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Gandhinagar, 16 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of L.K.Advani of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Kiritbhai Ishvarbhai Patel by a margin of 483121 votes.

  • 2009 Lok Sabha Elections: In 15th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Lal Krishna Advani attained 434044 votes and INC's Patel Sureshkumar Chaturdas bagged 312297 votes.
  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate L. K. Advani attained 516120 votes and INC's Gabhaji Mangaji Thakor bagged 298982 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Lal Krishna Advani (L K Advani) attained 453229 votes and INC's T N Seshan bagged 264285 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Advani Lalkrishna attained 541340 votes and INC's P. K. Datta bagged 264639 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Atal Bihari Vajpayee attained 323583 votes and INC's Popatlal V. Patel bagged 134711 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Lal Krishna Advani attained 356902 votes and INC's G.I. Patel bagged 231223 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Veghela Shankarji Laxmanji attained 495383 votes and INC's Kokila Vayas bagged 226891 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and JNP here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his JNP counterpart with a difference of 2754 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 49217 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Amrit Mohanal Patel attained 241694 votes and JNP candidate Puroshottam Ganesh Navalankar bagged 192477 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 60117 votes BLD candidate Purushottam Ganesh Mavalankar had got 221967 while INC got Govindbhai C. Patel votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between NCO and INC here NCO candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 3502 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated RPI candidate with a difference of 29840 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader S.M. Solanki attained 156148 votes and RPI candidate K.U. Parmar bagged 126308 votes
