Etah: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Rajveer Singh (Raju Bhaiya) from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 201001 votes. The polling / voting in Etah constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Rajveer Singh-MP (RajuBhaiya) and Samajwadi Party#s Devendra Yadav

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 52524 votes SP candidate Kr. Devendra Singh Yadav had got 226999 while BJP got Dr. Mahadeepak Singh Shakya votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Samajwadi Party candidate with a difference of 12140 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Mahadeepak Singh attained 286982 votes and Samajwadi Party candidate Kr. Devenra Singh Yadav bagged 274842 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Samajwadi Party candidate with a difference of 45703 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Mahadeepak Singh attained 190855 votes and Samajwadi Party candidate Ramesh Yadav bagged 145152 votes
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated JP candidate with a difference of 24232 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Mahadeepak Singh attained 148169 votes and JP candidate Latoori Singh bagged 123937 votes

The West Bengal government had taken precautionary measures in East and West Midnapore, North and South 24 Pargana districts, besides Howrah, Hooghly, Jhargram, Kolkata and the Sundarbans.

The cyclone barrelled through Odisha on Friday, unleashing copious rain and windstorm that gusted up to 175 kmph, killing at least eight people, blowing away thatched houses and swamping towns and villages.
