WB Board 12th Exam 2024: 3 Students Disqualified for Bringing Mobile Phones to Examination Hall

Kolkata: On the first day of the class 12 board exams, three students were disqualified from the entire examination after being found with smartphones in the examination hall. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) oversaw the examination, which saw an around 7,89,867 students participating across 2,341 centers statewide.

"The three candidates belonging to two schools in South 24 Parganas and one in Paschim Bardhaman districts were found in possession of mobile phones by invigilators before the exams commenced at around 9:45 am," council president Chiranjib Bhattacharya told PTI.

Bringing mobiles and other electronic devices to exam halls in Bengal is prohibited, he added.

In response to concerns regarding question paper leaks, the council has implemented a distinctive serial number for each question paper as a security measure.

CBSE Warns Against Fake Notice Regarding Change In Exam Dates

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a firm response to a fake letter circulating on social media, falsely claiming that the Class 12 board examinations were postponed due to the ongoing farmers' protest. CBSE has outrightly dismissed these unfounded rumors, labeling the viral letter as deceptive and fraudulent. The circulation of this counterfeit letter had sparked unnecessary panic among students and parents, compelling CBSE to step in and provide clarity on the matter.

The fake letter, masquerading as official communication from the examination controller and purportedly addressed to all principals and heads of CBSE-affiliated institutions, falsely claimed that the Class 12 board exams had been postponed indefinitely due to disruptions caused by the farmers' protest. The fabricated letter even outlined procedures for requesting changes in examination dates and centers.

However, the CBSE swiftly responded to the situation by releasing an official statement to debunk this hoax. They categorically denied any postponement of exams and urged students and parents to dismiss the false claims circulating on social media.
