As per the verdict, the plea stands dismissed for the candidates who exhausted their last attempt at the UPSC civil services examination in 2020. Students who are not age barred will be allowed to appear for the test.
The top court had earlier asked the government to consider allowing one chance to such students who have exhausted their number of attempts. To which, the government said that it is against granting one-time relaxation on age limit to UPSC civil service aspirants.
A group of students who were set to appear for their last attempt filed a petition seeking an extra chance for candidates who have exhausted their number of attempts but were otherwise eligible from appearing in CSE-2021.
