No Relief For UPSC Aspirants Seeking Extra Attempts For CSE 2021; SC Dismisses Plea

UPSC Civil Services Exam 2021 Extra Attempt: The top court bench while hearing the case said no extra chance will be given to UPSC aspirants who exhausted their last attempt in October 2020.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the petition filed by a UPSC civil services aspirant seeking an extra attempt for candidate  who missed their last attempt of the Union Public Service Commission 2020 civil services examination amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the reports, a three-judge bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Indu Malhotra, and Ajay Rastogi hearing the case said "Dismissed" and did not read the judgement further. The top court simply said no extra chance will be given to UPSC aspirants who exhausted their last attempt in October 2020.

As per the verdict, the plea stands dismissed for the candidates who exhausted their last attempt at the UPSC civil services examination in 2020. Students who are not age barred will be allowed to appear for the test.

The top court had earlier asked the government to consider allowing one chance to such students who have exhausted their number of attempts. To which, the government said that it is against granting one-time relaxation on age limit to UPSC civil service aspirants.

A group of students who were set to appear for their last attempt filed a petition seeking an extra chance for candidates who have exhausted their number of attempts but were otherwise eligible from appearing in CSE-2021.
